Birth Control Saves Lives

"Birth control saves lives!"

That's right, it SAVES lives.

You always hear things like: "The Pilll will give you cancer!", "IUD can tear through your womb!", "The Pill will give you ovarian cancer!", "Condoms spread AIDs!", "Implantation will infuse to your skin!", "The Morning After Pill will kill your baby!" "The Depo Shot will rape your dog!" and so on.

But in all reality, Birth Control saves more lives than you think. Every day, MILLIONS of women and men use birth control. Whether it's for sex, health reasons (we'll get onto that in a minuet to all of you lot who are all: "Birth Control does nothing good for your health!" lot.) or they just feel like having it. And those millions of people who are using it for sex are being mostly saved by probably the biggest STD in all of the whole known history: Pregnancy and children.

I'm just kidding when I say it's an STD, but with Birth Control used for reproductive reasons: We are preventing A LOT of unwanted pregnancies. And with preventing unwanted pregnancy comes:

-Less Abortions.
-Less children in orphanages.
-Less Child Abuse.
-Less starving children.
-Less physical disabilities.
-Less mental disabilities.
-Less people in the world (Yes, that's a good thing)
-Less death.
-Less abusive relationships.
-More wanted children.

Now for most of the points some of you might be going: "WELL! If they didn't want that all bad stuff happening to her, why didn't she just not get pregnant?"

Here's an interesting fact for you all: BIRTH. CONTROL. FAILS. (See? I put it in bold and used full stops, just to highlight it before you go spewing shit) It failed on me, once. The condom broke (and yes, we were using it correctly) but thankfully, I've been on The Pill for the past three years, so I didn't end up pregnant. There is a one out of one hundred chance that your birth control can fail. And trust me: Quite a lot of people have sex! There is no 100% effective birth control out there, so if you really are bent on stopping things like abortions and unwanted children, I suggest you start making one, and fast!

"She could get sterilized!"

What part of: "There is no 100% effective birth control" Don't you understand? And besides, what if she doesn't want kids yet, but might want one in the future? Plus it's very rare to find a doctor who will sterilize a woman who is under the age of 35 and hasn't got three kids already, and even then it's still difficult! It's a lot easier for a man to get sterilized because it's reversible, but it's still not 100%, and you can't exactly force him to get a Vasectomy, it goes against his right to bodily autonomy.

NOW! Health reasons. Here's my personal story of how birth control not only saved my life from pregnancy, but helped with my depression:

When I started my period when I was 11, my PMS would go crazy. Not normal: "Get me some chocolate, bitch!" crazy, more: "Holy fuck, I want to die." crazy. My mum took me to the quacks to see if there was any hormonal drugs that they could put me on. I can't exactly remember what they put me on (it was 8 years ago, y'know?) but what I did know is that some women used it as birth control. A few days after I started taking it, I felt a million times better!

See? It does save lives.

Here's a few other stories of how birth control physically saved other women's lives:

Those are just a few stories of many who dared to speak out about how birth control saved their lives.

A few of you may be saying: "But birth control demeans family!"

How the FUCK does increasing the chance of unwanted children not demean a family? Children, to many people, are blessings, not punishments. But by saying: "Oh, you were raped/had unprotected sex (because yes, people do have sex regardless of how much you wish to restrict it), that's too bad! But I'm not going to give you access to the Morning After Pill because it totez kills babies and I'm against birth control so now I'm going to force you to give birth to your rapists baby because I'm against abortion also and either totally ruin your life by forcing you into motherhood or force you to give it up for adoption to a loving family unless it's a minority like Black, Asian, Disabled or just doesn't get adopted till it's too late!"

If a woman does end up pregnant and wants to put it up for adoption, that's fine, it's her CHOICE. I'm all for choice, as many of you know: I'm pro-choice! I do not, however: Support forced gestation, adoption or parenting. I'm just waiting for a reply on a friend of mine who was forced to gestate and put it up for adoption, it's a heartbreaking story.

So yeah, I think I've covered it all. If I haven't: Please comment and I'll have a good rant about it in the description :P

Question of the day: Did birth control ever save your life?

It's true that birth controls can improve a women's health, sure some of them had terrible experiences with it, but everyone's body is different, and there's plenty of birth controls that exist to try
